A look at Day 1: Katy Trail Cycling Vacation

Clinton to Sedalia:

After breakfast in St. Charles, you'll be transported in a passenger van to Clinton – The Official Start of the Katy Trail. Capture the perfect photo before hitting the trail at the Western Terminus Clinton trailhead before starting off.

About 10 miles from Clinton, you’ll reach Calhoun, where the trail opens up to stunning prairie views. Enjoy peaceful, wide-open scenery of farmlands along this section of the trail.

At mile marker 248, you’ll arrive in Windsor, where the Rock Island Spur meets the Katy Trail. This small town is a great place to refuel and explore.

We’ll have a trailside lunch here, and you can explore the Spitit of 76 Caboose and museum. This is another great spot to get some great photos before moving on.

Between Windsor and Sedalia lies Green Ridge, one of the most peaceful sections of the trail, featuring rolling farmlands and wildlife. You may spot deer, wild turkeys, and native birds.

After cycling 37 miles from Clinton, you’ll reach Sedalia, a vibrant town rich in history, culture, and cyclist-friendly amenities. Sedalia is also home to Katy Depot, a beautifully restored train depot with exhibits on the Katy Trail’s history.

Before making your way to the historic Hotel Bothwell, take a spin through downtown Sedalia to explore antique shops and historic sites, or check out Missouri State Fairgrounds, where you can experience the Trails End tour.

At the hotel, you’ll indulge in a private dinner at the Ivory Grille. After dinner, you can do more exploring or simply take in the interior views of the elegant hotel.
